In Summary...
what the heck? where or what is this?
Durant Hall?
Durant Hall?
Posting here because of spoilers, hope you don't mind
Wow...tell me how it goes if you're able to find the tickets! I haven't watched in on the big screen yet either.
I agree with your comment about Lee-Hom, it pretty much described my reaction watching him throughout the movie haha. I'm glad his acting wasn't unbearable or annoying, that might've ruined the movie for me.
The movie itself made me cry, the ending was a bit overwhelming and unexpected. It was the culmination of many things that happened at once; I felt anger because she became vulnerable at the expense of her comrades lives and ultimately betrayed them, when assassinating him was crucial to liberating their country from Japanese occupation. The scene where he's returned the ring and replies "that's not mine"; he might have had feelings for her, but was forced to execute her as an act of self-preservation, despite the fact that she sacrificed herself to save him [an act that would tell him that she loved him]. I don't know if she actually did love him, if it was because the role she played defined her and she actually did become emotionally involved, etc. And the final scene where she's on her knees next to Lee-Hom, and they look at each other. Unrequited love, betrayal, etc.
I wonder how differently it would have turned out if Lee-Hom's character kissed her earlier.
You already know what happened, but I'm not exactly a movie critic and I'm trying to pinpoint what triggered the crying lol. I was watching it by myself, so I don't know how other people would react to it.
What do you mean by slick? I should rewatch it before replying since it's been awhile since I've watched it, and remember maybe rewinding it a few times to catch what they were saying. My Mandarin isn't that great, I understand it but my family speaks Cantonese. Sorry for the long comment!

Hey,
Don't know if you remember me, but you gave me a ton of good advice on my SoP last term. I got in at UC Riverside with funding and wait listed at UC Santa Cruz.
Just wanted to let you know!
Feel free to friend me on here.

So it took me weeks to respond, but I did want to offer you my congratulations and say thanks for letting me know the fruits of your application labors. Will you be taking UCR's offer then? Or have you heard back from UCSC by now?
I went to visit both programs last week, and I liked them.
I still don't have a solid offer from Santa Cruz, but I'm at the top of their list and a California resident, putting me in a strong position. They even paid my travel expenses to visit.
Either way, Riverside seems the better match, and unless Santa Cruz offers me a TON of money (if anything at all), I'll probably choose Riverside over the UCSC. I'm just waiting to see what happens. I honestly like both programs, but I connected better with UCR's professors. Strangely enough, I connected with UC Santa Cruz's incoming cohort more than UCR's.
I guess it's fortunate to have some kind of choice.
