Because I Love My Music and You Should Too
I'm ambivalent about this site, because it's absolutely nothing whatsoever like those tangible mixtapes that I once knew and loved, but it is pretty easy to pull together a clutch of songs for instant sharing (not that I think you can download any of the tracks). The GIANT FONT PLAYLISTS are also irritating, but the size of the font does kind of express how much I like each of the songs I put on the mix.

I'm giving it a go so you can give it a go:

Thanks for sharing this! This mixtape seems to fit just right for this afternoon (the Talking Heads song is playing at the moment).

It reminds me of uploading songs to imeem (dot com), but it doesn't seem nearly as cumbersome. Not that I have uploaded anything yet (my account is "eirinikos", by the way), but I'd like to. I've mixed feelings, too, regarding the tangibility of mixtapes as inherent to their appeal, but, you know.

The mere fact of having this option means that I will make fewer tangible mixes. I know it. I think I sensed my potential turn down this irreversible path from the beginning, which is why I was actually kind of resisting this whole mp3 thing to begin with, as futile as my efforts seemed.

Fewer tangible mixes, but a wider net for sharing. Some gains, some losses.

I will add you and keep an eye on your account. I hope to swap up my account once a week, since it really isn't that much trouble. No fancy essays need accompany the songs.

I do wish it'd all just run continuously. That'd also help it feel like more a mix. Then I can just leave it running while I continue doing my work instead of being constantly distracted as I am now... but that may also be due to the AWESOME MUSIC.

I'm very excited to listen to your mix! (Am on song #2 right now)

Oh wait. It DOES go on to the next song on its own. Cool. =)

I like that version of Bruce's "I'm on Fire," hehe.

I've been slightly obsessed with it (both the Chromatics cover and the original) since obtaining it from http://musicisart.ws/?p=527

I'm rather attracted to other stuff by the Chromatics too. A nice retro sound without being gratuitous.
