Less Driving, More Parking
I used to be able to churn out mix tapes every week or so... I also used to do a lot more driving, and needed the audio support system to keep me sane on the roads. Anyway, almost three years after the previous challenge, [info]aum called another Mix Scavenger Hunt. I threw this together in somewhat of a hurry, but I actually like it quite a bit.

As with my other mixes, I'm open to trading.

1. A song about your favorite body part
2. Have a Last.fm account? If so, pick the top most played track you have listed. If not, pick your favorite track.
3. A song from the 1920s
4. A favorite track from a favorite movie (This is the title track to Bai Jingrui's Home Sweet Home. I used to have a list of favorite movies somewhere, but these days, it's become much harder to decide.)
5. A song that gives you chills
6. A song about sports
7. A song about a video game (mini-boss doesn't count)
8. Cover song from a children's television show
9. Best rap song EVER! (Uh, this is one large genre of music that I don't claim to know anything about, so I picked what I could from my limited collection.)
10. A song with a brand or product name in its title (I gave up on this one. Instead, I chose a satirical song that pokes fun at the "Supersizing" phenomenon gone out of control with lots of brand name dropping. The lyrics in this are hilarious and I may add a translation later.)
11. A wartime propaganda song
12. A song originally recorded on wax or tin
13. The shortest song in your collection (I chose this from a number of songs under 40 seconds long, excepting spoken-word tracks, soundbites, and segue tracks.)
14. Your favorite love song (My favorite? Again, hard to choose, but this tune is up there.)
15. Love song about an object, not a living creature
16. The most obscure one-hit wonder you own (Is this obscure? Was it a hit? It was a single, but I don't even know if it really fits this category.)
17. A song about a real-life natural disaster (This is actually about the ecological disasters that would result if you interfere with nature by building a dam -- man-made natural disasters? Numerous soundclips from Legislative Yuan members, teachers, professors, activists, and writers involved with the Meinung Dam Protest are sampled.)
18. Longest title in your collection (The longest I could find was actually a Sufjan Stevens song, but he uses a lot of "ors" in his titles, which I think is cheating. ASMZ consistently has songs with long titles, and I like them more, so...)

You know, I really need to check out AOTM again. I've been going mix crazy the last few months.

Yeah, I don't feel like I "know" the community there anymore since I'm not as active as I used to be, but they always seemed like a supportive, friendly group.

E-mail me the address where you're at these days, so I can send this to you!

You have the widest range of taste in music than anyone I know.

If you knew more radio [ex] DJs, you wouldn't find it so uncommon. ;)

I can appreciate something in every genre. Some would say that just makes me an undiscriminating listener. However, I don't like every genre equally, that's for sure. Black metal and rap, for example -- I just can't relate. I don't avoid those genres, but I don't listen to them or actively seek them out.

See, that's one area where our musical tastes don't overlap. =)

heh, I guess we overlap also with the fact that I do not listen to rap as well, heh.

black metal
i used to think i hated metal period. like when josh had that show after crush collision. but then i found out that black metal is a lot like space rock and shoegazer, which are of course awesome. so i'm open to it now.

what about trance? that's always my favorite example of sucky genres.

Re: black metal
How do you think black metal is like space rock and shoegazer? Blankets of pure sound?

Trance. I can't think of a single 'trance' group/artist that I like off the top of my head. But I think I can appreciate the idea of trance. Goodness knows I've taken enough car trips with my mother listening to Buddhist chanted loops on repeat to count for something! Hmm, but that's not the same thing, is it? ;)

Re: black metal
Oh! Haha. What about gabba? Does that still count as a genre?
