On the Bedhead vs. Macha/Macha Loved Bedhead EP, tracks 5 through 85 are brief, 5-second snippets of ambient burble laced through with a faint and faraway looping voice.
After all these years, my ears finally perked up and recognized the source of the sample. They use the pre-recorded announcement from oldschool window screen/glass repair tricycles that pedal through Taiwanese neighborhoods all day. 修理紗窗, 紗門, 還玻璃... over and over, in a rhythmic lull that slips beyond conscious perception as it burrows deeply into your memories of afternoon naps in hot summers...
And I always thought "How Are Your Windows?" was just a randomly generated or cryptic joke title for those 81 tracks... Now it's just a big fat DUH. Lesson learned: listen closer.
